Lecture: Colonial Art and Iconology

The evangelization of the many Indian groups of southern Mexico originated special fashions of art and symbols that such audiences could relate to, understand, accept and find peace with. Unusual art styles were created that are today a rich cultural example of that amazing era. This is a brief overview of the unorthodox and unique Christian iconography in colonial art that was used to accomplish the transition of faith in the New World.
