This is a village just north of the large town of Tlacolula in the eastern valley of Oaxaca. Santa Ana is one of the two most famous towns where fine Zapotec Rugs are made. The town is proud to have a Community Museum that displays the history of making fine wool tapestries, as well as other relics from the pre-Columbian ruins that once existed in their town. While most people visit weaving and dyeing workshops in the nearby village of Teotitlan del Valle, there are also many families in Santa Ana that have dedicated themselves for generations to making similarly fine rugs and who are very welcoming to visitors.
